22. THE COSMIC KALEIDOSCOPE: THE POWER OF A MOMENT IN TIME by PENNY FARROW With each passing moment the heavens rotate like the turning of a cosmic kaleidoscope. Each turn creates a unique pattern – one that may not appear again for millennia. The heavenly pattern present at the moment of birth indicates a unique trajectory for a person, a country or even an idea. It is as if the heavens are speaking and we have only to understand the language. Jyotisha or Vedic Astrology is the most effective of the divination arts of India in discerning the unseen currents of karma present in the Cosmic Kaleidoscope. This is an introduction to this ancient and fascinating system of astrology.
29. REBIRTHING: THE ULTIMATE CONNECTION WITH THE NON-PHYSICAL SPIRIT SELF by GENTRY VITALE Rebirthing is a modern, holistic, self-improvement method using a precisely defined wondrous breathing technique to give one a profoundly positive and detailed awareness of one’s own mind, body, emotions and spiritual Self. It is about surrendering to what is perceived as reality in one’s experience and what could be possible in one's experience; so that these experiences are really about gratitude for the miracle of existence. Through conscious breathing we can perform and experience a heightened state of alertness and connection to the universe. Attendees will learn a technique they can use for the rest of their life to reduce stress, increase energy and connect to their Higher Self. A meal for the mind will follow.
FEBRUARY 5. THE TWELVE TRIALS OF NAROPA by TONY SPATARELLA The Twelve Trials of Naropa is a Tantric journey beyond the intellectual mind, to a direct, naked encounter with reality. Naropa seeks his guru, Tilopa, but must first shed his intellectual, conceptual conditioning that shields him from reality. Only upon surrendering after a series of intense psychological challenges, does Naropa encounter his guru, and awaken. Chogyam Trungpa's book 'Illusion's Game' will be used as a reference. A meal for the mind will follow.
12. HOW TO PROTECT YOUR BRAIN by IRIS ALSHEH What do most people worry about as they grow older? There have been plenty of things my patients worry about: looks, vision, strength, sexual potency, and so on. But the hands down, number-one thing people were concerned with over and above anything else is the decline of their brains, the fogginess, the loss of memory, the struggle they’re having trying to keep the same level of mental energy and focus. Many feel mentally fatigued, and that bothers them more than any physical problem. And from what I’ve seen, as you get older, you’re very aware of it and desirous of something to help with memory, attention, motivation and mental focus. So, what to do? How can you repair your aging brain, and get better as you get older? We shall discuss nutrients, food and movements that can help you to stop the process of the aging brain and even reverse it. 19. UNDERSTANDING THE BHAGAVAD GITA by JANE CLEARY Many have heard of this epic story which is the longest known poem in the world, yet few understand the significance of its story or even less, the impression on the mind and thereafter, the life changing impact it can effect for those who formally study its meaning. The focus of this presentation will be to explain how the ultimate pursuits of any person, no matter how such endeavors might be envisioned, essentially boil down to only one pursuit which is for unlimited and lasting fulfillment. While there are many ways to phrase this goal it is not possible to accomplish unless it is fully understood. This is the subject matter of the Bhagavad Gita and how it unfolds this goal will be the basis of this talk.
26. RUMI & WHITMAN: EAST AND WEST MEET IN THE FIELD OF MYSTIC UNITY by PETER ROGEN AND CARY BAYER Jalaluddin Rumi (13th century Sufi) and Walt Whitman (19th century American), each in his own way, ex- panded his consciousness from the individuality of a local poet to touch the universality that beats at the mystical center of every human life. In varying degrees, both drank of the joys of the "cosmic life" and delighted in describing them, tasted the immanence of God, and felt a boundless love for their fellow human beings. Both wrote to inspire their comrades to wake up from a "long sleep." In this poetic recital, East and West meet in a special 'field', one that Rumi described: "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,/there is a field./When the soul lies down in that grass,/the world is too full to talk about..." In "Leaves of Grass,” particularly his epic, "Song of Myself,” Whitman expresses what it's like to lie down in that grass. Peter Rogen has presented Rumi's poetry at Yale University and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art; Cary Bayer wrote his Masters' thesis on Whitman and is the author of Walt Whitman: Poet of Enlightenment. Peter and Cary will let the poems do most of the talking, while welcoming discussion from the audience as it awakens to the Presence that inspired the two poets and that beats inside every heart.
MARCH 4. THE INNER GOVERNMENT OF THE WORLD by ENRIQUE RENARD The notion of the existence of an Inner Government of the World puzzles many when told about it. Is it possible that there could be such a thing? Efforts were always made to prevent the UN from becoming one, and the Organization is merely a parliamentary body with only advisory powers. But the esoteric tradition tells us a different story. In Theosophy we are told that the theosophical movement was inspired by certain Masters or Adepts Who constitute a body whose work is connected to the evolution of Mankind. This presentation will explain who these Masters are, why is it that so very few know about Their existence, and the viability of it. A meal for the mind will follow.
12. NO SPEAKERS FORUM DUE TO CONVENTION
18. THE NEPTUNE SOCIETY by PATTI WALL The presentation will explain why one should prearrange funeral arrangements. It will explain the Neptune Society, what they do and what is included with our prearrangements to make it simple and easy for our loved ones.
NOTE: On March 18th, a members meeting will follow at 4:30 PM
25. THE PURPOSE OF OUR EXISTENCE by JURGEN KRUPPA
The descent of spirit into matter and its return; does it make sense and why is it happening? Are we willing participants? What mechanisms are involved? What is our position in this cycle? Why does it take so long? Are we being helped? What will the end result be? Are we returning to spirit, if yes, how are we different from the beginning?
