OCTOBER
 5.  POTENTIAL IMPACTS TO SOUTH FLORIDA’S WATER FROM GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE by Robert Rudolph.

From rising sea levels to impacts on our drinking water supplies and Everglades Restoration efforts, global
climate change will affect how each of us interacts with the water resources we all too often take for granted.
Come, learn more during this informative presentation.  Mr. Rudolph is the Water Planning Program Manager of
the Natural Resources Planning & Management Division of Broward County.

12.  THE SOUL, THE QUALITY OF LIFE.  A discussion facilitated by Jurgen Kruppa, FTS.

19.  A WOMAN’S STORY:  THE LIFE OF ANNIE BESANT with discussion facilitated by Carol Hurd, FTS.

A documentary by BBC of Annie Besant’s early life in England.  This story shows Besant’s struggles in her
search for truth, first as a Christian and the wife of a minister, then as an atheist, then as a socialist.  Finally she
reads the Secret Doctrine, meets H.P. Blavatsky and joins the Theosophical Society realizing that she has found
the answer to her questions.  This film shows her courage and compassion in her work for women and for all of
humanity.  It shows her defense of her actions before a British court (one of the first, if not the first woman to do
so).   Carol will give a brief overview of her later life as the 2nd International President of the Theosophical
Society.

26.  WHAT MAN IS by Sy Ginsburg, FTS.

Join us on an adventure into the heart of The Secret Doctrine.  Almost one hundred years after H.P. Blavatsky first
disclosed to the world the Stanzas of Dzyan, Sri Madhava Ashish received further insights into their meaning and
published these in the book  Man, Son of Man.  These insights have now been abridged into a simple,
straightforward textbook, What Man Is.  This talk is an introduction to a new course beginning next Sunday, Nov.
2nd using that book, in which we shall discover what man is, what is his purpose, and what he must do to fulfill
that purpose.  The course promises a whole new understanding of how we became fifth race man and what we
must do to make the leap to sixth race man/woman, free of egotistical motivation and standing in self-
awareness of our true nature.  In the Speakers opinion, it is as close a statement of objective truth as you are
likely to find, and we shall explore some of its principles in this introductory talk.

NOVEMBER

2.  SHOWCASE OF CLASSES facilitated by Lillian Mayer, FTS.

Several of our facilitators will speak briefly and be available to answer questions about our class offerings.  This
will augment our quarterly bulletin.

9.  ROSE LORE by Frankie Hutton, PhD, FTS.

Frankie will share esoteric aspects of the rose based on her new book, the anthology Rose Lore, recently
published.  Frankie, who is a former journalist and currently associate professor of history in the University
system of Maryland, has been involved in rose studies for the past several years and has led a team of global
contributors to the anthology.

16.  THE YOGA OF POWER by Chuck Salvo, FTS.

A contemporary expression of the perennial wisdom shows us how to exercise more power and control over our
lives.  Learn the inner process of manifestation, going even beyond “The Secret.”

23.  THE DEVELOPMENT & DISSOLUTION OF THE SUFFERING SELF (EGO) by Tony Spatorella.

This presentation will focus on the cognitive and affective aspects of the ego: how it develops and how it thrives
through continual internal and external reinforcement.  Also we present methods to eradicate the ego by seeing
it directly as a mind created illusion.

30. WALT WHITMAN:  POET OF ENLIGHTENMENT by Cary Bayer, MA,

Influenced by Transcendentalists, awakened to the Transcendent, Walt Whitman, the self-described “kosmos,”
had powerful glimpses of the One Spirit that pervades the universe.  This awareness, coupled with his love of
“comrades,” enabled his poetry to be, as one critic dubbed it, “a remarkable mixture of the Bhagavad Gita and
the New York Herald.”  His connection to the Unmanifest Source also enabled him to be claimed as an
inspiration by such diverse groups as mystics, Beats, gays, the women’s movement and Socialists, among
others.

DECEMBER
7.  MAYA A/K/A THE WORLD IN EVERYDAY LIFE BY Jane Cleary, FTS.

Those familiar with the Sanskrit word Maya may have heard that it carries such meanings as “illusion”,
“delusion” and other such synonymous words.  If Maya is illusory, then the world is equally the same.  What then
is REAL?  This talk will focus on this subject and provide the participant with a refreshing understanding of this
seemingly intense and serious subject.  Not only will it enlighten, it will also “lighten up” the listener.

14.  LIVE AS IF YOU ARE DYING (because you are!) by Jacie Keeley.

Death is an important part of life.  Although it could come at any moment, it is something we pay little attention to
until it is too late.  Join us for a provocative look at the energy of attachment and selfishness and how it spoils the
way we live and the way we die.  The energy of attachment and selfishness is like a needle in our heart; when
we release it, we feel incredible joy.  There’s no longer an uptight tendency in our heart and we are physically
relaxed.  Brief meditation will be included.

21.  ESOTERIC SIGNIFICANCE OF THE BIBLE by Gloria Fleischner, FTS.

The esoteric interpretation of Genesis:  *How it is understood at four deeper levels using the acronym of the
“Garden” in Hebrew;  *The 10 fiats (statements) of continuous creation; *How the tree of the knowledge of good
& evil is connected to the Tree of Life & its hidden “sephira” of “Daat” & Immortality .

28.  THE INNER MEANING OF CHRISTMAS by Carol Hurd, FTS.

Why was December 25 chosen to celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ?  What is the origin of the Santa Claus
legend?  Is there an inner meaning to the Christmas tree?  What are the meanings of Advent and Epiphany?
What about the Virgin Birth?  Is there a universal meaning in the celebration that Christians call the Christmas
season?

THEOSOPHICAL MOTTO:  There is no religion higher than truth

“Shalt thou abstain from action?  Not so shall gain thy soul her freedom.  To reach Nirvana one must reach Self-
Knowledge, and Self-Knowledge is of loving deeds the child.”

**************************

“Esoteric philosophy reconciles all religions, strips every one of its outward, human garments, and shows
the root of each to be identical with that of every other great religion.”
